About OPA

"Keeping Oregon Flying Since 1936"

OPA membership is open to anyone interested aviation in the state of Oregon.
As well as active pilots, many non-pilots and lapsed pilots belong to OPA and share in our major objectives, including advocacy on behalf of our members, encouraging safe flying practices, and promoting the benefits of aviation to the general public. Local OPA chapters provide social opportunities, including fly-outs, educational forums, and the opportunity to serve as resources to state organizations as well as local communities.

The Oregon Pilots Association (OPA) partners with pilots, aviation enthusiasts, and other aviation organizations in the State of Oregon with the primary objective to Keep Oregon Flying, through:

LEGISLATIVE ADVOCACY

OPA develops and advances policies that protect Oregon’s airports and ensure fair, safe access for general aviation. In partnership with state agencies, elected leaders, and aviation stakeholders, we advocate for infrastructure investment, funding, and land-use decisions that sustain aviation’s economic and community value.

SAFETY EDUCATION

OPA inspires and embraces a strong culture of safety built on education, proficiency, and a commitment to lifelong learning. Through training, scholarships, and pilot proficiency programs, we empower pilots to fly at the highest level of safety—on every flight.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

OPA builds understanding and support for general aviation by engaging communities, public officials, and the media with clear, credible information. We shine a light on the vital role that airports play in local economies, education, emergency response, and public service.

SOCIAL ENGAGEMENT

OPA chapters bring aviation to life at the local level through connection, learning, and shared experience. By fostering fellowship, local training, and community events, we strengthen individual pilots and the aviation communities they proudly call home.  Let’s go flying!
